My Go-To Rainy Day Outfit
Today I’m sharing the pieces that I always grab for on a rainy day, and I like to call this my “My Go-To Rainy Day Outfit.” Every time it’s raining I usually end up in some variation of this outfit, but there’s so many ways to switch it up that I’m never bored with the combo!
These pieces are necessities when putting together a rainy day outfit:
- Cardigan– I have so many colors of cardigans and have been living in them this winter, especially being pregnant. I’m a fan of chunky knit cardigans and love how they give a look more detail. I have so many cardigans from Loft, Target, and Old Navy. Here are a few that I own:
- Basic Shirt– When you’re dressing for a rainy day (& adding a scarf, see #3) I think a basic tee is perfect. Of course plain white is always good, any color, striped, or patterned… The point being that you don’t need a fancy blouse, just a simple tee will do. I love any tees from Old Navy and Loft!
- Scarf– Ahhhh I have a scarf obsession, and it’s bad. I love scarves and how they can change an entire outfit. Plus, they’re a cheap accessory that you won’t feel bad buying a few of. 😉 This scarf is one of my smartest buys! You can see how I wore it here and here. I also wrote a post about 5 Scarves Under $15! There’s so many scarf options out there that you can really get creative with your outfit and wear all sorts of colors!
- Rain Boots– This one is a no-brainer I’m sure. If you don’t have a pair of rain boots, you need to get some! I think back to five years ago when I didn’t have any, and I’d always end up with wet socks or find out that day that my boots weren’t waterproof. It was no good! I’m sure you see Hunter boots everywhere (and for good reason- they’re super cute and will last a lifetime) but they aren’t the only option. I’d say if you can make the investment in them then they are completely worth it, but if you can’t then there are plenty of other options out there for you! Before I invested in my Hunter boots, I had a couple of pairs that I found at DSW. These boots are cute and simple, and only $40!
You can see more of my rainy day outfits with red rain boots here and here, and I also have a couple of outfit pictures here. We’ve gotten so much rain in Northern California this year that this outfit combo has been on repeat! The rainy weather may be dreary, but your outfit doesn’t need to be 😉
