Saturdays
As a working mom, the weekends have dual purpose: running errands and taking care of house “stuff,” but most importantly soaking up time with my hubby and son. I am so lucky to be a teacher and usually get to leave work by 4 (as long as I go in early to prep), which gives me a few hours each night with my family. But, as any mom knows, those precious hours can get eaten up with cooking dinner, packing lunch, cleaning, the list goes on. And that usually doesn’t include any wind down time for me. I wouldn’t change my life for the world, and I try to keep a positive attitude and a grateful heart at all times. But, Saturdays are all the more special because there isn’t a strict agenda and the stresses of work are gone.
Today was actually a relaxing Saturday, with no real plans. The past few weekends have been crazy and then I got a bad cold, so I am so thankful for a day like today. The weather is beautiful and we spent much of the day outside! Of course, there was a Costco trip and meeting my parents for lunch, but the day has been pretty relaxing. Just the way I like it!
Now that the weather is warming up, I’ve been spending much of my time at home out in the backyard with Ben. He is such a little boy- his legs are all scraped and bruised, but he’s happy and has the biggest smile on his face. I am thankful for him, because he reminds me each and every day what life is all about.
I hope you are relaxing and taking care of yourself today! I know I plan to take care of myself with some wine later tonight. 😉 That, and our favorite steak pasta!
