Ben’s train themed 3rd birthday party
^^ tabletop decorations (along with some flowers) I forgot the write the ‘3’ on the chalkboard, so I did that after I took the pic.
^^ THE cake. My sister-in-law created this cake, and she always does such an amazing job. She’s so talented. I have dubbed her on cake duty forever 😉
^^ On a sugar high at this point
^^ One of his favorite gifts. He loves to look like Daddy! I can’t wait to take him to the station and get a pic of my boys in uniform.
Every year for Ben’s birthday, we have a family party in the summer. I’ve always had fun with the themes (1st-baseball, 2nd -trucks & tractors) and this time we decided to go with trains since Ben is obsessed! I am a former scrapbooker (but ain’t nobody got time for that anymore!) so I’m always looking for an excuse to get crafty, either with parties or classroom stuff. Step one whenever I plan a party is Pinterest, of course. (Follow me @JessKnowsChic) There’s so many great ideas and I love that it’s a visual search engine. I’m thankful it wasn’t around when I got married, because I just might have killed myself trying to do projects!
For Ben’s party I kept it pretty simple with the decorations, and just did a few in key places around the house and backyard. I’ve had my Cricut cutter for forever, and I always pull it out to craft. I made the letters, banner, train tabletop cutouts, and signs all with my Cricut. I use a program (Cricut Craft Room) on my computer to plan it all out before cutting, and that cuts down on time and makes everything so much easier! Ben actually helped my with the decorations, pulling them off the cutting mat when it was finished and gluing them together. He kept saying, “Thank you mommy for the decorations. I love them.” <3 He was also SO pumped about the RR Crossing on the door, complete with railroad tracks. He kept pulling family members out the the front during the party so he could pretend he was a train. His excitement over those decorations was so worth the time, and I had fun making them too!
I was a great afternoon with family and we were just thankful Mike was able to be there (fire season usually makes it iffy). Ben officially turns 3 next week and I can’t believe it! Where does the time go?
