The Best Way to Cuff a Denim Jacket
As a teacher, and maybe just a child of the 90s, my denim jackets get a ton of wear and are one of my go-to layering pieces. I love topping dresses with them when I need an extra layer, and when I’m teaching a denim jacket is my go-to for making a top school appropriate.
There are a bunch of different ways to cuff a denim jacket, but in my personal opinion, the way I’m sharing today is the best way.
Reasons this way is the BEST way to cuff a denim jacket:
- It won’t unravel midday and keep coming loose (who has time for that?!)
- It looks better than being all buttoned up.
- You can show off a pretty bracelet or watch when you show a little wrist 😉
Read on for step-by-step instructions, and I’m sure this will become your new favorite way to cuff a denim jacket!
1. Lay the denim jacket out flat & unbutton the sleeve.
I really prefer to lay the jacket out on my bed or the floor because cuffing a jacket while wearing it is so tough. If you can rope a husband, sister, or friend into helping you, then feel free to cuff while you’re wearing it!
2. Fold one sleeve up the desired place you’d like the cuff to end.
You might have to experiment with how much of a cuff you want, but it’s easy to redo if needed. Make sure you get the backside of the cuff (that has the button on it) to the desired place.
3. Fold a second time up to the first fold.
Make sure to keep it even all around so you don’t have a crooked fold.
4. Straighten out the cuff and tuck in the button if needed.
Check the backside and make any needed adjustments.
5. Wear it!
Try it on and see if you like where it hits on your arm. If you’d like the cuff in a different spot, just repeat, and make sure to make your first fold lower or higher to your liking.
See, it’s that simple 🙂 Now wear that baby out!
