How to Wear Pastels Without Looking Juvenile
bell-sleeve blouse, jeans, OTK boots (also here)
Although I adore pastel colors, I always find them tough to wear. Mostly because I feel like many of the pieces look to juvenile or look like they’re only for Easter Sunday. Little kids can get away with it, but I don’t have a lot of pastel pieces in my closet (besides pink, duh). Read on for my tips on keeping pastels chic!
Start with snagging this gorgeous blouse from LOFT!
My #1 tip to keep pastels from looking juvenile is not to pair them with white!
The second you throw on a white cardigan then it definitely looks like an Easter look. Try to switch it up and get creative with your pairings! Wear a navy cardigan or a chic trench coat instead. I love a good moto jacket too!
I would say to break this rule if you’re wearing pastels with white jeans, because what doesn’t look good with white jeans?! Just don’t top it with a white cardigan 😉
#2- Find a way to make your outfit edgy.
Now, I am definitely NOT a super-trendy, edgy woman, but I do know that certain details or accessories can take an outfit up a notch. My favorite thing to wear when I want to look sophisticated are my OTK boots. They’re a little edgy, a little sexy, and overall a great addition to any outfit! Especially one that you want to keep from looking juvenile 😉
If it’s not OTK boots that make your outfit edgy, wear some cute espadrille platforms or this natural stone necklace. As long as you keep the other pieces current, you don’t have to worry about your pastels looking childish.
