A couple of weeks ago, my husband and I finally got around to celebrating our eighth wedding anniversary. Our actual anniversary came and went while he was stuck on a fire, so we were a little overdue, but it was worth the wait. Dinner at our favorite fancy steakhouse, and then a movie!
This top was a recent mall find at Express when I was on the hunt for something that I could wear on date night. Most of my clothes are either teacher or mom style (which isn’t a bad thing) but I do like to spice it up for a date with my husband! I was immediately attracted to the deep red color and satin fabric. Although I was unsure about having a bow at my waist (because what woman wants more bulk at their tummy area?) but was surprised to see how flattering the fit of the top actually was. It has a side zipper which allowed the top to be fitted, so the tie wasn’t a problem for me.
I’m a pretty modest dresser most of the time, but I don’t mind showing a little skin for my husband, and this top was perfect for that! I did end up using my trusty fashion tape to hold the top in place so that I kept it classy and not trashy ;).
While the top is amazing, I can’t end this post without mentioning these distressed skinny jeans! I recently purchased these jeans and they are SO comfortable! I even wore them pedaling on a bike and was fine. They have a raw hem and I love that. An animal print clutch is the perfect way to finish off the outfit!
I definitely felt good in this top and will be wearing this outfit again! Thanks for stopping by!

In our seven years of marriage, we’ve learned a thing or two. One of those “things” is that you need date nights in your life! We don’t get them nearly as often as we should, but any time we can steal alone is always a plus for our relationship. Sometimes we forget that we need that time reconnect, and when it finally happens it’s so good. As we usually end the date saying, “we need to do this more often.”
My outfit is from a dinner date out last week. When I spotted this dress I couldn’t wait to try it on! It’s so fun and I plan to wear it again in Maui with some flat sandals. And of course, I also thought of the red dress emoji on my iPhone! I love to dress up for our dinner dates and think it’s important to make an effort for each other.
It’s easy to get stuck in a rut and have the same date over and over again, so today I’m sharing 5 of our favorite dates. Enjoy!
Happy dating!

Can you tell by the post title that I’m dreaming of wine? Only a few more weeks until I can enjoy a glass of red wine!
No, I’m not an alcoholic but I’ve missed drinking wine so much this pregnancy. Probably because I’m a member of a few wine clubs and we live close to a bunch of amazing wineries that we used to frequent. I’ll be breastfeeding when baby girl gets here, but I’ll responsibly enjoy a glass of wine. I can’t wait!!
This was a look I wore out to dinner, and I think it would even be the perfect look for Valentine’s Day if you don’t want to wear a dress or pink/red! (If you do want a pink look, see my post Pink on Pink!) The clutch and lip color make this look Valentine’s Day appropriate, and I’m loving the color combo. I hope it inspires you!
